How much does a driving licence cost in Mauritius?
There is no single fixed total for every learner. The official charges are clear; lesson, vehicle and insurance arrangements vary and should be confirmed directly with the relevant provider.

The Mauritius Police Force lists a non-refundable Rs 500 application fee for a driving licence and a Rs 500 driving-test fee. These are official charges listed on the current Police Force guidance pages.
The pages also list fees for other services, such as an international driving permit or duplicate licence. Those are separate transactions and should not be added to a learner’s standard journey unless relevant.
Costs that are not set by the Traffic Branch
AutoEcole.mu does not publish a universal cost for private lessons, use of a school vehicle, or test-day insurance because those arrangements vary by provider and may change. Ask each school for an itemised written quote before committing.
For the practical test, the Police Force says the applicant must arrange their own vehicle and produce a valid special insurance policy. Confirm who supplies the vehicle and insurance, what is included, and the cancellation policy.
